Brushing with Braces
- Use a soft-bristled toothbrush designed for braces.
- Brush your teeth gently in small circular motions for at least two minutes.
- Pay special attention to the areas around the brackets and wires.
- Angle the brush at 45 degrees towards the gum line.
- Rinse thoroughly with water.
Flossing with Braces
- Use a floss threader to guide the floss under the arch-wire.
- Pass the floss between each tooth and gently slide it up and down.
- Wrap the floss around the brackets and pull it through to remove food particles.
- Repeat this process for all teeth.
- Rinse thoroughly with water.
Additional Tips
- Brush and floss at least twice a day, after meals and before bed.
- Use a fluoride toothpaste to help prevent cavities.
- Consider using an interdental brush or water flosser to reach tight spaces between teeth.
- If you experience any discomfort or bleeding while brushing or flossing, consult your orthodontist.
